orders of serviceAll the designs shown on the website can be made as an Order of Service or Order of the Day booklet or card. The style of the order of service will depend on the type of marriage ceremony you are having. I have put together a few ideas to help you.
RELIGIOUS CEREMONY - ORDER OF SERVICE If your marriage ceremony is taking place in a church, you will likely need an Order of Service booklet. This typically contains details of the processional (entrance) music, wordings for hymns, prayers, readings, music for the signing of the register and the recessional (exit) music. It is also becoming popular to detail the bridal party and any musical contributors e.g. piper, organist, string quartet. In my experience, an order of Service for a Church of Scotland service can fit onto one insert sheet, while a Catholic service may require more insert sheets which will incur additional cost. There are no set requirements or layouts, it is really up to you and your celebrant to work out the contents.
CIVIL OR HUMANIST CEREMONY - ORDER OF CEREMONY A civil ceremony conducted by a registrar or a humanist marriage ceremony can still have an order of service but will not contain any wordings for hymns. However you can still include processional (entrance) music, readings, music for the signing of the register and the recessional (exit) music. However, you may find that this makes it a little short. So you can add to it with details of the celebrant, family or friends doing any readings, details of the bridal party and musical contributors. These can be made in the booklet style but also as a flat card style.
CIVIL OR HUMANIST CEREMONY - ORDER OF THE DAY This is similar to an order of service but as well as containing details of the actual marriage ceremony, it also includes a "running order" of the rest of the day. For example; champagne & canapes reception, photographs, dinner is served, cutting of the cake, speeches, evening reception....etc. These work best made in a booklet style with the marriage ceremony on one side and the running order of the day on the other. I don't recomment adding times to the order of the day, it can appear a little like a timetable and you can never be sure that things will run exactly to schedule so you want to leave a bit of flexibility.
Whatever your personal circumstance, I would advise allowing 1 Order of Service per couple or 1 per person for singles and perhaps a few extra for your bridal party and celebrant.
