addressing etiquette

When you address your invitations, you should try to follow a few guidelines to ensure a consistent tone.  You have two options on your invitations for the guest names to be written.

OPTION 1 - BLANK SPACE LEFT FOR YOU TO HANDWRITE NAMES

The invitations will come printed with a blank, dotted line so that you can hand write the guest names yourself.  This would also apply if you were passing your invitations on to someone to do calligraphy.  Some people feel handwriting the names gives a more "personal" touch and shows you have taken the time to personally address them.  However, you will probably want to find someone with nice handwriting and beware of making even the smallest mistakes - each mistake is a wasted invitation.

OPTION 2 - SEND ME YOUR GUEST LIST AND THE NAMES ARE PRINTED

For an additional fee of £25*, you can send me a list of your guest names and I personalise each invitation with the names printed. This really does finish an invitation off beautifully and gives you one less thing to worry about.  If you opt for this service, I strongly recommend you take a few blank ones as well just to have as spares.  Please note I do not accept handwritten lists.  You can send your list in one of the following ways:

1.  You can type it in the main body of an email
2.  You can type it as a Word document and attach to an email
3.  You can type it as an Excel spreadsheet and attach to an email

The guidelines for addressing guests on an invitation are that the guest names should be in the same format as the hosts name.

EXAMPLES

THE HOST NAMES HOW GUESTS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED
Mr & Mrs John Smith Mr & Mrs Andrew Brown
John & Mary Smith Andrew & Elizabeth Brown
John & Mary Andrew & Elizabeth
Miss Sarah Smith & Mr Robert Black Miss Caroline Rennie & Mr Alan Walker

ENVELOPE ADDRESSING

For an additional fee of £35*, you can send me a spreadsheet of your guest names and addresses and I can address the outer, posting envelopes for you as well.  Again, this does give a really special look to your invitaitons and finishes everything off beautifully.

*Please note these fees are per set i.e. £25/£35 for the day invitations and another £25/£35 for the evening invitations.  You can mix and match to suit your requirements e.g. print names on day invitations and print day envelopes but leave evening invitations and envelopes blank or print names on day and evening invitations but no envelope printing.
